Affiliate price comparison website powered by WordPress and WooCommerce showing product results

Affiliate comparison without the heavy lift

If your goal is to monetise affiliate revenue in a known retail niche — fashion, electronics, white goods, pet supplies, travel, garden, DIY — a bespoke build is overkill. Our affiliate comparison stack uses WordPress, WooCommerce and our own custom comparison plugin to give you a fast, SEO-ready site with automated feed imports for a fraction of the time and cost.

What is included

  • WordPress + WooCommerce base, configured for performance not bloat. Cache layer, image optimisation and minimal plugin footprint.
  • Custom comparison plugin (built in-house) to import, normalise and refresh affiliate feeds from any major network on a schedule you set.
  • Network connectors for Awin, CJ Affiliate, Rakuten Advertising, Impact, Amazon Associates and any feed available as CSV, XML or JSON.
  • Comparison results pages with filters, sorting, price history (where the network provides it), merchant logos and deep-link tracking.
  • Category and brand pages auto-generated from feed taxonomies, with SEO-friendly URLs and structured data.
  • Editorial layer for buying guides, news and reviews using the standard WordPress editor.
  • SEO basics done right — Yoast or Rank Math configured, clean canonicals, schema for products and offers, XML sitemaps and Search Console set up.

Networks and feed formats

We import directly from Awin's product feeds, CJ Affiliate REST API, Rakuten LinkShare feeds, Impact Radius product catalogues, Amazon Product Advertising API and Skimlinks. Custom feeds via CSV, XML, JSON or a partner API are imported the same way. Feeds refresh automatically on a schedule (typically every 6–24 hours) and the plugin tracks which products are gone, in stock or price-changed.

Customisation, not a template

You get a custom theme designed for your brand — not a tweaked Astra or generic affiliate template. The look, the comparison table, the category browse and the product cards are all designed and coded for the niche so the site does not look like every other affiliate review blog.

Ongoing flexibility

Because the base is WordPress, you keep all the editorial, page-builder and content workflow advantages. Add buying guides, deal posts, comparison editorials and news from a familiar admin. The comparison plugin and feeds run alongside it, not over it.

Typical timeline and cost

An affiliate comparison launch (one network, one or two main categories, custom theme) typically goes live in 4–6 weeks from £4,500. Larger multi-network sites with custom comparison logic, price history and editorial sections start around £9,000.

When to choose affiliate over bespoke

Affiliate is the right call when the product catalogue exists in a network feed, the conversion is a click-through to a retailer, and you do not need to model unusual ranking logic or quote forms. If you need data from non-affiliate sources, multi-supplier APIs, or quote-and-capture flows, see bespoke development or lead generation.

How feeds actually work in production

Affiliate feeds sound simple — a CSV with products, prices and deep-links — but in practice every network publishes them slightly differently and every merchant within a network publishes them slightly differently again. Currencies, stock states, missing categories, duplicate SKUs, broken image URLs and inconsistent product names are the norm, not the exception. Our plugin normalises all of this on import: it maps merchant-specific category names to your taxonomy, fills missing fields where it can, flags bad rows in the admin, and keeps a per-feed error log so you can see at a glance which merchants are causing problems.

Refresh schedules are configurable per feed. High-volume merchants with frequently changing prices typically run every six hours; smaller catalogues or evergreen content runs nightly. Imports are incremental where the network supports change feeds and full where they do not. A typical site with 20 to 30 active feeds and 50,000 products refreshes overnight in under an hour without any intervention.

Editorial alongside the comparison engine

Affiliate comparison sites that rank and convert are almost always content-led as well as product-led. Buying guides, deal posts, season-specific roundups and category explainers do the SEO heavy lifting; the comparison engine does the conversion. Because the base is WordPress, the editorial workflow is familiar — Gutenberg blocks, scheduled posts, multi-author support, internal linking suggestions, the lot. Editorial pages can pull live products from the comparison plugin into shortcodes or blocks, so a "Best 4K TVs under £500" guide always shows current prices without manual updating.

Performance, hosting and scale

WordPress gets a deserved reputation for being slow when it is poorly configured. Our deployments are not. We use a managed UK or EU host with object caching (Redis), a static page cache (typically Cloudflare or Bunny), image optimisation at upload, and a database tuned for the comparison plugin's read-heavy workload. A typical affiliate comparison site we deploy serves a category page in under 200ms uncached and well under 50ms from cache, and passes Core Web Vitals on mobile out of the box.
