What information we collect

We only collect personal information you actively give us. This is limited to:

  • Information you submit through our contact or quote forms — name, email, phone number, company name and the message you send.
  • Technical information automatically logged when you visit the site — IP address, browser type, pages viewed and referring URL. This is anonymised in our analytics.

We do not collect special category data, financial information, or identification documents through this site.

How we use your information

We use the information you submit to:

  • Reply to your enquiry and provide the quote, information or service you asked for.
  • Maintain a record of the enquiry for our own project records.
  • Improve the website using anonymised analytics.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not pass it to third parties for marketing. We do not add you to any mailing list without explicit consent.

Lawful basis

For replying to enquiries we rely on legitimate interests (responding to a request you initiated). For any future marketing communications we will only contact you on the basis of explicit consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

Cookies

This site uses a small number of essential cookies for functionality and, with your consent, anonymised analytics cookies (Google Analytics 4). No advertising or tracking cookies are set without consent. You can decline analytics cookies at any time using the cookie banner or your browser settings.

Data retention

Enquiry data is retained for up to 24 months from your last contact with us, after which it is deleted. Analytics data is retained for 14 months in aggregated form.

Data sharing

We use a small number of trusted service providers to operate the website and respond to enquiries:

  • Our website host (UK / EU data centre).
  • Our form processor (used to deliver enquiry emails).
  • Google Analytics for anonymised traffic analysis (with your consent).
  • Our email provider (used to send and receive replies).

Each of these providers is contractually bound to process data only on our instructions and to applicable security standards.

Your rights under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate information.
  • Ask us to delete your information (subject to any legal retention obligations).
  • Object to processing or restrict it.
  • Withdraw consent for any processing based on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

To exercise any of these rights, email info@pricecomparisonsoftware.co.uk. We will respond within one calendar month.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS. Form submissions are transmitted encrypted. Enquiry records are stored on access-controlled systems with regular backups. We follow standard industry security practices but no online service can be guaranteed 100% secure.

Changes to this notice

If we make significant changes to this notice we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. For substantial changes affecting how your data is used, we will contact you directly where possible.

Children's data

This site is a business-to-business service and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has submitted information through this site, please contact us at the email address above and we will delete it promptly.

International transfers

Where a service provider listed above processes data outside the UK or European Economic Area, that transfer is covered either by an adequacy decision (for transfers to countries the UK government has formally recognised as providing adequate protection) or by Standard Contractual Clauses with appropriate safeguards. The vast majority of our processing happens within the UK and EU; international transfers are limited to a small number of widely used SaaS providers.

Automated decision-making

We do not use automated decision-making or profiling on the personal information collected through this website. Enquiries are read and responded to by a human, and any prioritisation or routing of those enquiries is done manually.

How to make a complaint

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information you can complain to us directly using the contact details at the top of this notice, and we will investigate and respond. If our response does not resolve your concern, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator. The ICO can be reached on 0303 123 1113 or through their website at ico.org.uk. We would, however, appreciate the chance to address any concerns directly before you contact the regulator.

Glossary

A few terms used above, in plain English. Personal information means any data that can identify you, directly or in combination with other data we hold. Processing means doing anything with personal information — collecting, storing, using, sharing, deleting. Controller is the organisation that decides why and how personal information is used; we are the controller for the information you submit through this site. Processor is an organisation that handles personal information on the controller's instructions; our service providers act as processors. Lawful basis is the legal reason we are allowed to process your information — for us, that is usually legitimate interests or, where required, your explicit consent.
